We reached the top of a mountain and you instructed me to turn around. “There’s the Caribbean/Atlantic and look straight ahead and there’s the Pacific.” It was a shocking moment that made me recognize the importance of Panama and its canal to the rest of the world. I read about it, but until I saw it, it didn’t sink in! Thanks for the lovely reminder.
